Traveling with kids can be an adventure, but it can also lead to some unexpected situations that may leave you scratching your head.
Fortunately, there are some simple travel remedies you can use to deal with these problems and make your trip much smoother.

Travel Remedy #1: Mommy Time
When I travel for work, I try to schedule some time to explore with my husband on a one-on-one basis. On one of our most recent trips, we went on a day trip to San Diego together; it was such a great bonding experience! This is also a good remedy if you don’t have a lot of time on your hands; even an afternoon can help keep you refreshed during those busy times when you’re missing your kids at home.
Travel Remedy #2: Listen to Music
Music can help you escape your environment, whether it’s a highway full of traffic or a cramped airplane cabin.
Listen to some upbeat tunes on your headphones, and you’ll forget about all of your surroundings.
You’ll also get in some much-needed exercise as you dance in your seat—which is an added benefit! If that’s not an option, try sitting up straighter and taking deep breaths to get the blood circulating through your body.
Travel Remedy #3: Charge Your Phone
I always bring a charger with me on trips. The few times I’ve forgotten it, I’ve been completely cut off from my family and friends (not to mention all of their contact information).
Now that I keep a charger in my bag, I can easily plug in while we travel, so if my phone needs some juice I can just do it right there.
Travel Remedy #4: Eat Healthy Food
Even if you have to bring your own healthy food with you, it’s worth it to keep on top of what you eat when traveling.
Plan ahead and pack some apples or bananas so that you have something good to eat when cravings hit.
Keep an eye out for travel-sized snacks, too—these can be great options if there isn’t a lot of healthy food available at your destination.
Travel Remedy #5: Pack Properly
The best way to stay organized while traveling is to plan out your packing list. Having a specific place for everything will help you remember what’s in your suitcase.
You may even find that some things can be left at home without making a difference in how you feel.
Travel Remedy #6: Catch Up On Work
Get on a plane and get some work done while you’re away. If you can’t leave your laptop behind, remember that there are Wi-Fi connections available almost everywhere these days, from airplanes to hotels.
As long as you don’t forget to pack your charger, getting work done during travel is much easier than it used to be.
Just make sure to set boundaries so that you aren’t working too late each night.
Travel Remedy #7: Avoid Peer Pressure
Traveling is an excellent opportunity to build your own self-confidence, but that can sometimes be hard when you’re around other people who might have a different idea of how you should spend your time.
If anyone tries to pressure you into something or questions your judgment, just remind yourself that you’re an adult who has every right to do what she wants (after all, if they don’t like it, they can go somewhere else).
Travel Remedy #8: De-Stress with Spa Treatments
There’s no need to even leave your hotel room to treat yourself.
Most hotels offer in-room spa services, such as massages and facials.
And if they don’t, simply book a hotel that does!
Travel Remedy #9: Stay in Touch with Family and Friends
Many travel destinations offer great Wi-Fi and cell coverage, so there’s no reason why you can’t communicate with loved ones when you’re on vacation.
And don’t forget: there are apps that can make it easy to stay in touch, even when you’re far away from home.
